Modern cuckoo clock: BB11 from Rombach & Haas with 1-day movement
Cuckoo clocks have been experiencing a real revival in recent years. And the trend shows no sign of abating. In Schonach in the Black Forest, we discovered a cuckoo clock manufacturer that skillfully combines this traditional craft with modern design.
Schonach//Black Forest.
This cube version of a classic cuckoo clock with the cuckoo on top brings movement to the modern smart home dominated by apps. A completely analog morning ritual that Black Forest residents are very familiar with is winding up the cuckoo clock. This model requires daily attention because it has a so-called "1-day movement" inside. If this carpe diem ritual seems tedious, take a look at our other models with an "8-day movement." But that really is the maximum power reserve. For the very lazy and culturally uninterested, there are also cuckoo clocks with quartz movements. However, we do not sell them. We also do not arrange bus trips or electric blankets.
Black Forest cuckoo clock, warm cuckoo call
The cuckoo call itself is warm and beautiful and radiates a calming atmosphere. If you don't want to hear it, it can be turned off using an elegant lever at the bottom of the case. Otherwise, the cuckoo calls every half hour with a "cuckoo," and every hour on the hour it announces the specific time, so 8 or 8 p.m. means eight "cuckoo" calls.
Romba cuckoo clock: The cuckoo is on top
The special feature of this model is the position of the cuckoo. The singing bird has landed on the roof, so to speak, and moves slightly with each call. In classic cuckoo clocks, the bird sits behind a door that opens when it calls. Here, the bird is already visible in advance.
